Our Story
About the Community Giveback
For more than two decades, families in the Bay Area have come together each December for a simple but powerful act of love: a child receiving a new bicycle from their incarcerated parent.
What began as a small program in San Quentin grew into a movement of hope and connection, reminding families that love can travel across any distance. Through hundreds of volunteers, donors, and community partners, thousands of bikes have been gifted to children. Each one carries a message of love, care, and remembrance.
This year, Inland Empire United Education Fund is honored to bring this legacy to Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. On Saturday, December 13, 2025, we will host the first-ever Bike Giveback IE, in partnership with Kindful Restoration and The Exception.

What the Day Represents
The Community Giveback is more than an event, it’s a bridge between families and a reminder that community can hold what distance separates.
Each child who attends will receive a brand-new bicycle and gifts on behalf of their incarcerated parent or loved one. Volunteers will help families with helmet fittings, crafts, and family portraits. These small gestures remind us connection can take many forms.
How to Get Involved
For Families:
Families with an incarcerated parent can register to receive a bike and gifts for their children. Each gift will include a photo and message from their loved one.
For Volunteers:
From setting up bikes to greeting families, volunteers make this day possible.
For Community Partners & Donors:
Local organizations, faith groups, and businesses can help by sponsoring bikes, providing food, or offering family resources at the event.
